The letter Kim Jong Il sent to the participants of the meeting of the exemplary officials of primary organizations of the Kim Il Sung Socialist Youth League on Sept. 29, Juche 88 (1999) clearly indicates the tasks to be fulfilled by the primary organizations of the youth league as required by the revolutionary development which has entered a new higher stage in building a great prosperous and powerful nation and ways to do so.

The speakers stressed that the work serves as a powerful engine helping the youth perform their honorable mission they have assumed before the era and the revolution.

Devotedly defending the leader is the most vivid expression of loyalty to the party and the leader and provides a sure guarantee for protecting and glorifying the destiny of the party and revolution, the country and its people, they said, calling on the organizations of the youth league to direct primary efforts to this work.

Referring to the fact that the validity and vitality of the idea put forth in the work have been clearly proved over the last decade, they went on:

The officials of the youth league should eternally glorify the idea of the youth movement and immortal exploits of President Kim Il Sung and Kim Jong Il, deeply grasp the ideas and theories set forth in the work and bring about a revolutionary turn in the work of the league and thus firmly prepare all the young people as reliable young vanguard of the party, first-line standard-bearers taking the lead in opening the gate to a thriving nation and heroes of the era.
