Kim Jong Suk took arms in her hand and protected legendary hero President Kim Il Sung at the risk of her life in the first half of the 20th century when Korea was under Japan's military occupation, thus performing distinguished feats to be recorded in the history of modern Korea.

She helped General Secretary Kim Jong Il grasp the idea of attaching importance to arms and military affairs in the arduous period of the anti-Japanese revolutionary struggle and in the busy days of building a new country after the liberation and paid deep attention to instilling matchless courage and grit into him.

She presented her son with a "general's uniform," prompted by her strong desire to see him grow up to be a brilliant general who would succeed to the cause of Kim Il Sung.

Before breathing her last, she earnestly told her beloved son to loyally uphold Kim Il Sung.

As desired by Kim Jong Suk, Kim Jong Il has creditably carried forward the cause of the President, making his august name widely known to the whole world as a great brilliant commander of Songun protecting and glorifying the sovereignty of the DPRK and leading the cause of global independence to victory, the bulletin concluded.
