On Day of First Democratic Elections
Pyongyang, September 22 (KCNA) -- It was one day of November, Juche 35 (1946) when anti-Japanese heroine Kim Jong Suk took part in the first historic democratic elections at Jungsong constituency, Central District (then), Pyongyang.

She, who cast a patriotic ballot, said called upon the cheering crowd to positively turn out in the building of a new Korea, upholding the teachings of General Kim Il Sung in order to further consolidate and develop the people's power, saying that they could greet this auspicious day as they held him in high esteem.

She went on to say to the following effect: Our workers and peasants who had had little knowledge of the regime and election in the past came to participate in the elections and express their will today.

Looking around the masses attentively listening to her who imbued the consciousness of being the master and patriotism in their hearts, she added:

The women who make up a half of the population have attended the elections as proud voters and many women were nominated and elected as candidates for members of the people's committees at all levels. All the women should strive harder to lay the foundation for the construction of the nation to repay to the great benevolence of General Kim Il Sung.

These words are still engraved in the hearts of the Korean people.
