National Memorial Service Held
Pyongyang, September 22 (KCNA) -- A national memorial service was solemnly held here on Tuesday on the occasion of the 60th anniversary of demise of anti-Japanese heroine Kim Jong Suk.

It was attended by senior party, army and state officials, officials of party, armed forces and power bodies, public organizations, ministries and national institutions, servicepersons, officials in the fields of science, education, culture and arts, public health and media, anti-Japanese revolutionary fighters, bereaved families of revolutionary martyrs, persons of merit, working people in the city, delegations of the General Association of Korean Residents in Japan, overseas compatriots and the chief of the Pyongyang mission of the Anti-Imperialist National Democratic Front.

The participants observed a moment's silence in memory of Kim Jong Suk.

Kim Yong Nam, member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea and president of the Presidium of the DPRK Supreme People's Assembly, said in a memorial address that Kim Jong Suk's revolutionary life totally dedicated to the leader, the country and its people was the life characterized by loyalty to President Kim Il Sung, struggles for the revolution and devotion to the happiness of the people.

Kim Jong Suk who embarked on the road of revolution in her early years protected Kim Il Sung politically and ideologically at the risk of her life with arms in hand all her life and devoted everything to the struggle for accomplishing the revolutionary cause of Juche started by the President, Kim Yong Nam noted, adding that she was an outstanding woman revolutionary, anti-Japanese heroine and great mother of Korea.

Her boundless loyalty to Kim Il Sung found a vivid expression in that she always played the role of a vanguard fighter in the struggle for firmly defending the revolutionary idea and line of Kim Il Sung and implementing them in a do-or-die spirit, he pointed out, and continued:

Kim Jong Suk was not only widely known as a woman commander of Mt. Paektu in the armed struggle against the Japanese imperialists but also made a distinguished contribution to carrying out the strategic plan of the President as an experienced political operative.

She immensely prized arms. That's why she worked heart and soul for the building of the regular armed forces of the country and its development true to the line of the President on founding the army after the liberation of the country.

Kim Jong Suk devoted all her life to the work for assisting Kim Il Sung, never having good rest during the protracted anti-Japanese bloody battles and even in the period of building a new country. She set a shining example of loyalty by showing how a revolutionary should uphold the leader.

Kim Jong Suk's revolutionary life was the life glorified with profound love and devotion to the revolutionary comrades and people.

She is the great mother of the revolution and a benefactress of the nation who gave birth to the lodestar of Mt. Paektu, providing steady continuity to the revolutionary cause of Juche and carving out a bright future of Kim Il Sung's nation.

Thanks to the feat Kim Jong Suk performed by giving birth to the lodestar of Juche in the tempest of revolution the Korean people have been blessed with the illustrious leaders generation after generation and emerged a proud people steadfastly carrying forward the traditions of Mt. Paektu.

He stressed the need to build without fail a thriving socialist nation, high in dignity thanks to independence and demonstrating its might thanks to Songun, on this land under the leadership of Kim Jong Il, always holding Kim Il Sung in high esteem as the eternal sun of Juche as desired by Kim Jong Suk in her lifetime.
