Letter to Kim Jong Il from Overseas Koreans
Pyongyang, September 9 (KCNA) -- General Secretary Kim Jong Il received a letter from the members of congratulatory groups, delegations and visiting groups of overseas Koreans staying in the homeland on Tuesday on the occasion of the 61st birthday of the DPRK.

President Kim Il Sung provided the tradition of building a Juche-oriented government in the crucible of the grim anti-Japanese war and founded the DPRK on the basis of it, the letter said, adding that he resolutely beat back the armed invasion by the U.S. imperialists, successfully defending the sovereignty of the nation, and built a socialist country centered on the popular masses, independent in politics, self-supporting in economy and self-reliant in national defence, under the uplifted banner of Juche, thus paving a wide avenue for the development of the country and the prosperity of the nation.

The letter continued:

The 60-odd year-long glorious history of the DPRK is shedding more brilliant rays thanks to you and our homeland is demonstrating its might as a dignified socialist power of Juche steering the 21st century and a country of Songun proud of its tremendous national power.

You have worked heart and soul day and night for the prosperity of the country and happiness of the people and consolidated the country liberated and glorified by the President as a socialist fortress of Juche standing unfazed in any storm and stress.

Noting that the DPRK is demonstrating its dignity as an invincible power, standing imposingly in the center of the world, the letter stressed that this is a shining fruition of Kim Jong Il's lofty patriotic idea, noble will and patriotic devotion as he has totally dedicated himself to the country and the nation only.
