Birthday of DPRK Celebrated
Pyongyang, September 8 (KCNA) -- A meeting was held in Vietnam, a seminar and a photo exhibition took place in Cambodia and a lecture and a photo exhibition in Guinea from August 29 to September 2 in the run-up to the 61st anniversary of the founding of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.

Displayed in the venues of photo exhibitions were photos on the undying feats performed by President Kim Il Sung and General Secretary Kim Jong Il in founding and developing the DPRK and the Korean people's struggle for the building of a thriving nation.

Speeches were made at the functions.

Pham Tat Dong, chairman of the Vietnam-DPRK Friendship Association, said that the Vietnamese and Korean peoples have long developed the friendly and cooperative relations provided and cultivated by President Ho Chi Minh and Kim Il Sung, adding that the Vietnamese people have expressed full support to the fraternal Korean people in socialist construction and cause of national reunification.

Kong Sam Ol, deputy prime minister in charge of the Royal Palace of Cambodia, said that the Korean people have achieved eye-opening successes in building a thriving nation under the leadership of Kim Jong Il and hoped that they would register fresh successes in their efforts to open the gate to a thriving socialist nation in a few years to come, true to the behest of Kim Il Sung.

The director general of the Kim Il Sung Institute of Agricultural Science in Guinea highly praised Kim Il Sung as the father of the nation-building who built a socialist power which is standing firm in any storm and stress and the first country of the people in the history of the Korean nation spanning 5,000 years.
