Russian Orchestra Gives Its Premiere
Pyongyang, September 5 (KCNA) -- The visiting "Orchestra of the 21st Century" of Russia gave its premiere at the Pyongyang Grand Theater on Friday.

Among the audience were Kang Nung Su, minister of Culture, Kim Pyong Hun, chairman of the Central Committee of the General Federation of the Unions of Literature and Art of Korea, creators and artistes of the Mansudae Art Troupe and other national art organizations.

Valery E. Sukhinin, Russian ambassador to the DPRK, and his embassy officials were among the audience.

The orchestra put on the stage orchestra "March of Victory," contralto solo "Habanera" from the opera "Carmen", male tenor solo "Riding on a swing", dance and chorus "Russian waltz" and other colorful numbers. The artistes truthfully represented with high artistry the Russian people's love for the motherland, traditional custom and national emotion.

They also staged orchestra of Korean song ""Silk Weaving Girl of Nyongbyon" arranged and conducted by Pavel Borisovich Ovsyannikov, head and chief conductor of the orchestra.

The performance ended with choruses immortal revolutionary hymn "Song of General Kim Jong Il" and "The Evening in the Suburbs of Moscow." It was acclaimed by the audience.
