Anthracite Mass-Excavating Method Developed
Pyongyang, September 3 (KCNA) -- The Coal Mining Engineering Institute under the State Academy of Sciences of the DPRK has completed an anthracite mass-excavating method.

It can expand excavation to a broader extent and raise the mining rate on the basis of the accurate estimation of coal deposits, geological conditions, etc.

The scientists there have put on a scientific basis the method of confirming the layout of coal in sections where coal cannot be excavated by the existing method and in the sections under excavation and of deciding the elements needed for coal mining in a rational way.

The scientists dispatched to the February 8 Jikdong Youth Coal Mine have analyzed the data including the size of the existing coal fields, their geological structure, objects to be excavated and others in a comprehensive way and realized their mathematic modeling.

And they elucidated the distribution character of coal fields in a scientific way to markedly boost production per coal releasing pit and productive capacity per shift.

As a result, the excavating rate of the colliery upped by 50 percent as against the preceding period. Various coal mines in the west region have applied this method to production, turning out large quantities of coal.
