Greeting the anniversary, the Korean people are looking back with deep emotion upon the immortal feats of the President who had wisely led the Korean youth movement with his outstanding idea and leadership, regarding the question of youth as an important question related with the success or failure of the revolution and the future destiny of the nation in his early years.

In the early years of his revolutionary activities, he, with deep-going analysis of the historical experience of the country and the world revolutionary movement and the obtaining revolutionary situation, put forward the Juche-oriented idea of giving importance to the youth, the first of its kind in history.

The President started his revolutionary activities with youth work and paved the way of the Korean revolution through youth movement.

He brought home the mission and duty assigned before the country and the revolution to the young people of the new generation unaffected by the old trend of thought, united them around the revolutionary organization and let them take part in the revolutionary struggle to accomplish the people's cause of independence.

Under his energetic guidance and revolutionary education, many revolutionaries of the new generation had grown to be the backbone of the anti-Japanese armed ranks and played a vanguard role in the sacred war to liberate the country.

The glorious anti-Japanese revolutionary struggle brought his idea of giving importance to youth to a brilliant realization and proved its validity and invincible vitality.

Thanks to this idea of the President, the young people of Korea unhesitatingly dedicated their youth and lives to the country in the fierce Fatherland Liberation War against U.S. imperialism and thus defended the independence and sovereignty of the country. After the war, they displayed the honor of being a shock brigade in building a powerful socialist country independent in politics, self-supporting in the economy and self-reliant in defence.

Today, too, the Korean youth are further demonstrating their invincible might as the vanguard unit in the general advance of the Songun revolution under the sagacious and seasoned leadership of Kim Jong Il who carries forward the President's idea of giving importance to the youth.
