Kim Jong Il Provides Field Guidance to May 11 Smeltery
Pyongyang, August 25 (KCNA) -- General Secretary Kim Jong Il provided field guidance to the May 11 Smeltery rebuilt on an expansion basis.

After being briefed on the smeltery in front of a large map showing its panoramic view, he went round production processes including a control room and a smelting shop to acquaint himself in detail with the technological updating and production there.

Seeing the work sites furnished with ultra-modern equipment and pervaded with clean and fresh air, he expressed great satisfaction over the fact that the officials, workers and technicians of the smeltery successfully completed the difficult and vast expansion project in a brief span of time by devoting all their wisdom and enthusiasm and highly estimated their feats.

The May 11 Smeltery, a successful embodiment of the Juche idea, is a modern smeltery impeccable in all aspects, he said, noting with great pleasure that one more model industrial establishment sprang up in the era of Songun to shine long in the history of the country.

It is a big success to be greatly proud of that the officials, technicians and workers of the smeltery put on a modern basis the smeltery to fully meet the requirements of the IT era by settling by themselves the scientific and technological problems before them, he said, calling upon all the units to earnestly learn from their revolutionary spirit of self-reliance and work style of inquiring into and creating something new with their efforts and wisdom.

Noting that dynamic progress made in the comprehensive technological updating at the industrial establishments in recent years resulted in remarkably augmenting the might of the Juche industry, he added: We are sure to emerge victorious in building a great prosperous and powerful nation as there is such strong independent industrial foundation we have laid with much effort, tightening our belts.

He set forth the important tasks to be fulfilled by the smeltery.

Saying that the smeltery will turn into a comprehensive smelting centre, when the project for increasing its capacity envisaged in the next phase completed, he underscored the need to make thorough-going preparations for it and wind up it in a brief span of time. He indicated the orientation and ways to do so.

He expressed conviction that the officials, workers and technicians of the May 11 Smeltery would live up to the profound trust and great expectation of the Party by successfully carrying out the revolutionary tasks before it.

He was accompanied by Kim Ki Nam, secretary of the WPK Central Committee, Pak Nam Gi and Jang Song Thaek, department directors of the WPK Central Committee, and Generals of the Korean People's Army Kim Won Hong, Hyon Chol Hae and Ri Myong Su.
