Japanese Imperialists Condemned for Blowing up Ship
Pyongyang, August 24 (KCNA) -- The Japanese imperialists sank ship "Ukishima-maru" by blowing it up on August 24, 1945. This was a deliberate massacre committed by them, pursuant to their policy for exterminating the Korean nation.

Rodong Sinmun Monday observes this in a signed commentary.

It goes on:

The criminal nature of the incident and truth about it were brought to light by the whole course from the moment an order was issued to "Ukishima-maru" to "sail towards Pusan" to the tragic end of the ship, testimonies made by survivors of the incident and information obtained through the survey and discovery made so far.

It was sheer sophism for the Japanese reactionaries to have claimed that the ship was sunken "by a mine".

The ship met such a tragic end because the Japanese imperialists carefully worked out in advance a plan for sending the ship with a large number of Koreans aboard to the bottom of the sea and put it into practice. The above-said claim made by the Japanese reactionaries was no more than a deceptive artifice to hide the criminal nature of the incident and the massacre of Koreans committed by the Japanese imperialists.

The Korean people can never forget the above-mentioned day the Japanese imperialists massacred Koreans through such hideous operation even after their defeat. They, at the same time, keep on strict tabs all the mass killings of Koreans committed by the Japanese imperialists, while pursuing a harsh policy of military occupation of Korea after turning it into a colony.

It is the unshakable resolution and will of the Korean people to surely settle accounts with Japan for its past crimes.
