Birthday of DPRK Celebrated
Pyongyang, August 24 (KCNA) -- Lecture meetings and a reading session took place in Guinea and Peru between August 13 and 16 on the occasion of the 61st anniversary of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea.

Banou Keita, chairman of the Guinea-Korea Friendship Association, noted in his lecture that President Kim Il Sung, father of socialist Korea, put forward the democratic line suited to the Korean people's will and their thought and feelings after liberating the country from the colonial rule of the Japanese imperialists.

On Sept. 9, 1948, the DPRK was founded on the basis of the successes achieved through democratic reforms, the lecturer said, adding: Democracy in the DPRK developed into the socialist democracy, the democracy centered on the popular masses whereby all the working people help and lead each other forward with equal freedom and rights as the same members of the society.

Camano Vitor, chairman of the Group for the Study of the Juche Idea in Conakry, Guinea, noted at the reading session that the Korean people have turned out to bring about a new great revolutionary surge and surely open the gate to a great prosperous and powerful nation in 2012 marking the centenary of birth of Kim Il Sung.

Yuri Castro Romero, secretary general of the Peruvian-Korean Institute of Culture and Friendship, in his lecture referred to the strength of Songun Korea, fully displayed through the successful launch of satellite Kwangmyongsong-2 in April, and to the sinister smear campaign conducted by the United States and its followers against the DPRK over its legitimate satellite launch.

Saying that the DPRK manufactured the satellite with its own efforts and technology 100 percent despite the U.S. and other hostile forces' moves to stifle it, he stressed that the satellite launch of the DPRK, which demonstrated its high scientific and technological level and economic potentials, proves that a thriving nation, the goal of the Korean people, will be surely built in the near future.
