Retraction of Confrontation Policy Urged in S. Korea
Pyongyang, August 22 (KCNA) -- The Anti-dictatorship Action Headquarters of the Youth and Students Solidarity for Implementing the June 15 Joint Declaration in south Korea released a statement on Aug. 19, urging the Lee Myung Bak group to settle the problem of the inter-Korean relations.

The statement referred to the fact that the joint press release between the Korea Asia-Pacific Peace Committee and the Hyundai Group of south Korea was made public on Aug. 17, giving all the Koreans the expectation and hope for improvement of the inter-Korean relations and positive development of the cooperation for the co-prosperity of the nation under the historic June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration.

The future developments depend on the attitude of the Lee Myung Bak "government," the statement said, urging the authorities to squarely look into the reality, though belatedly, and retract the policy of confrontation with fellow countrymen.

It held that the Lee group should respect and implement the inter-Korean declarations, far from getting hell-bent on the Ulji Freedom Guardian joint military exercises with the United States.

The youth and students will never allow Lee Myung Bak's anti-reunification reckless action obstructive to the implementation of the said declarations, the desire and steadfast will of the whole nation, it declared.
