KCNA Blasts Japan's Moves for Increasing Defense Spending
Pyongyang, August 21 (KCNA) -- Recently Japan has become evermore undisguised in its moves to increase its defense spending.

The government and the ruling Liberal Democratic Party of Japan specified the necessity to increase the defense spending in a "basic policy" and a "final proposal" to be submitted when the "defence programme guidelines" will be amended at the end of this year.

The above-said development is a vivid expression of the militaristic scenario of Japan to aggravate the regional situation by beefing up and updating its armed forces.

Japan has systematically increased the military spending under the signboard of "defense" for many years.

Japan's defense spending in the state budget has already exceeded 40 billions U.S. dollars; the bulk of it has been channeled into the modernization of the "Self-Defense Forces (SDF)".

Projects are in full gear to introduce large-sized ships and long-distance planes, realize nuclear weaponization and militarize space.

Are all these moves for the "defense of Japan's territory"?

Japan is apt to cite "regional security" as a pretext for boosting its defense spending.

This is exemplified by Japan's claims that the "situation in Northeast Asia does not allow it to cut down defense spending" and "it should have armed forces in place to cope with contingency in the surrounding areas."

Its assertions are nothing but sophism to justify its snowballing defense spending and arms build-up and deceive the international community.

The above-said moves of Japan are aimed at having an unchallenged military edge in Northeast Asia and launching continental aggression.

Today the international community is expressing serious concern about the fact that the government, the ruling party and the military in Japan are becoming unanimously assertive for increasing defense spending.

It is as clear as pikestaff that Japan's moves for increasing the defense spending will bring horrible disasters to Northeast Asia and the rest of the world sooner or later.
