Struggle for Independent Reunification Called for
Pyongyang, August 20 (KCNA) -- The South Headquarters of the Pan-national Alliance for Korea's Reunification released a statement on Aug. 15, calling upon all the people to turn out in the struggle for independent reunification.

The statement said that 64 years have passed after Korea's liberation from the Japanese imperialists' colonial rule, but the Koreans' historic dream of national reunification has not yet been realized.

The U.S. imperialists set foot on the Korean Peninsula under the guise of liberator to bisect the Korean nation and mercilessly killed many patriots at the point of the bayonet of dictatorship, fostering confrontation between the south and the north, it pointed out.

It charged that Lee Myung Bak and the "Grand National Party" are now cruelly quelling the nation's desire for independent reunification, peace and prosperity and making desperate efforts to enforce the dictatorship by mobilizing all the violent forces including the "National Intelligence Service", prosecution and police.

The statement called upon all the progressive camps to unite under the banner of the June 15 joint declaration and the October 4 declaration and vigorously struggle for realizing the historic cause of independent reunification.
