The spokesman for the above-said council charged that the authorities' retaliation against unionists of Ssangyong Motor Co. is going beyond the limit. This is little short of "killing workers" and "killing a trade union" and this amounts to sparking off the second incident of Ssangyong Motor Co., he added.

He accused the Supreme Prosecutor's Office of attaching a political label to those workers who have been on strike to have their jobs protected for dozens of days.

He demanded the prosecution stop at once cooking up a case and the Lee Myung Bak regime halt at once the brutal suppression of workers of Ssangyong Motor Co.

The organizations blasted the prosecution brought a non-restraint complaint against eight members of the Socialist Workers' Federation including O Se Chol, honorary professor at Yonsei University, on charges of violation of the "National Security Law" by groundlessly linking them with the incident of Ssangyong Motor Co.

They charged that the authorities who made a wholesale arrest of workers of Ssangyong Motor Co. by branding them as a "violent group" are now working hard to invent a pretext for launching a wholesale campaign for cracking down upon workers by digging up again the "case of the Socialist Workers' Federation" which had already proved bankrupt.

In a press release the organizations denounced the suppression of the struggle to defend the vital rights of the workers and political activities of members of the said federation as an act of violating the workers and other people's freedom of choice and freedom of political activities and thinking.
