One Pair of Korean Tigers Settle in Central Zoo
Pyongyang, August 12 (KCNA) -- A pair of Korean tigers have settled in Central Zoo, a centre for the cultural and emotional life of the Korean people.

After giving field guidance to the newly renovated zoo at the end of the last year, General Secretary Kim Jong Il sent the tigers to the zoo as gift.

The slender bodies of the tigers with wide and clear black stripes on glossy yellow ground, threateningly glaring eyes, stiff whiskers and clear black patterns like the Chinese letter king on foreheads --all these add dignity and beauty to them with gentle nature.

When admitted to the zoo, they were seven months old and the tigress weighed 40kg and the tiger 45kg.

When grown up, the weight of the Korean tiger is 180 to 250kg (300kg at maximum), the length of the body is 200 to 250cm, the length of the tail is 97cm and the height of the body is 90 to 102cm.

Now the Central Zoo is paying deep attention to the work of preserving and breeding rare animals including the Korean tigers.
