Brutal Suppression of Unionists' Strike Flailed in S. Korea
Pyongyang, August 10 (KCNA) -- The South Headquarters of the Pan-national Alliance for Korea's Reunification released a statement on August 6 to denounce the Lee Myung Bak group of traitors' brutal suppression.

The statement charged that the Lee group conducted an operation to put down the strike of the Trade Union of Ssangyong Motor Co. by setting in motion a large number of policemen, including the police "commandoes" who caused the tragedy in Ryongsan, and gangsters on August 5.

Many workers were heavily wounded due to the bestial suppression by the police and gangsters who mercilessly stamped down them with shields and beat them with iron sticks while spraying tear gas from a helicopter, it pointed out.

It held that the struggle of the said trade union is a just struggle to expose and condemn before the world the unpopular nature of the Lee Myung Bak regime and the brutality of its fascist dictatorial rule.

The Lee group will have to pay for its brutal suppression, the statement said, stressing that all the people will turn out more vigorously in the struggle against the fascist dictatorship.
