"Pyongyang Speed" Created in Chollima Era
Pyongyang, August 6 (KCNA) -- Today builders of the new generation in the DPRK are erecting modern dwelling houses and lots of monumental edifices one after another in different parts of the country with the spirit with which the constructors created the "Pyongyang speed" in the postwar period.

In the period of the great Chollima upsurge, the builders turned out as one, upholding the far-sighted plan of construction mapped out by President Kim Il Sung to provide big dwellings to the Korean people who were living in shacks in the ground, having their houses destroyed in the three-year-long Korean war provoked by the U.S. imperialists.

But they were bare-handed.

If something, it was the will and conviction to build a rich and powerful country on the severe war-debris, holding aloft the intention of the President.

They wrought miracles and innovations day by day, nay hour by hour, with not only iron crane but also wooden one, pooling their wisdom.

In 1958 they created the "Pyongyang speed" by assembling a flat in 14 minutes and constructing in a year dwelling houses for more than 20,000 families which would take 3-4 years in ordinary times, with the materials, fund and manpower for 7,000.

The "Pyongyang speed" was renovated in the 1960s and the 1970s, creating miracles of assembling a flat in 11 minutes and then in 7 minutes.

In the speed new streets such as Chollima, Pipha and Rakwon streets were constructed one after another in Pyongyang.

The lofty spirit with which those in the Chollima era unconditionally carried out what the President wanted is being displayed to the full in every working site of the 150-day campaign today.
