Lee Group Accused of Blocking Inter-Korean Working Contacts
Pyongyang, August 2 (KCNA) -- The south Korean academic, youth and students and peasants headquarters under the South Side Committee for Implementing the June 15 Joint Declaration on July 29 issued a joint letter of protest to accuse the government authorities of blocking even inter-Korean contacts.

Recalling that the "Ministry of Unification" recently disallowed working contacts with the north under the unreasonable pretexts that "present situation of inter-Korean relations should be considered" and "it is not sure about the safety of organizations of the south," the letter of protest said: This action was a reckless one against reunification as it amounted to negating and incriminating the activities of the reunification movement organizations.

The letter urged the Lee Myung Bak "government" to drop its policy of confrontation without delay and express its will for implementing the joint declaration and come out in practical actions for achieving reconciliation, cooperation and the great unity of the nation.

The members of the South Side Committee for Implementing the June 15 Joint Declaration held a press conference on the same day to condemn the group of traitors for their reckless actions against reunification.

Speakers there urged the ministry to immediately repeal the measures taken to block the inter-Korean contacts.
