Present there were senior Party, army and state officials, officials of party, armed forces and power organs, public organizations, ministries and national institutions, servicepersons of the Korean People's Army, officials in the fields of science, education, culture and arts, public health and media, war veterans, those who performed exploits during the wartime, servicemen's families, working people in the city, the chief of the Pyongyang mission of the Anti-Imperialist National Democratic Front and overseas Koreans.

July 27, Juche 42 (1953) is brilliantly recorded in the history of the country as the day of the second liberation as the army and people of the DPRK, united close around President Kim Il Sung, beat back the U.S. imperialist aggressor forces, who boasted of being the "strongest" in the world, in the hard-fought Fatherland Liberation War and won historic victory, the reporter said, and went on:

The said war was the just anti-imperialist revolutionary war in which the young DPRK honorably defended the independence of the country and the sovereignty of the nation from the world imperialist allied forces led by the U.S.

In the three-year-long war the army and people of the DPRK under the outstanding and tested leadership of Kim Il Sung inflicted a disgraceful defeat on the U.S. imperialist aggressor forces and demonstrated with high pride before the era and history that invincible is the strength of the independent people who rose up heroically to protect their destiny.

The heroic feats and popular heroism displayed by the army and people in the war were a noble manifestation of the lofty ideological and moral traits and the matchless patriotic self-sacrificing spirit of the revolutionary soldiers who regarded it as the worthiest life and greatest happiness to unhesitatingly dedicate their precious youth and lives to the Party and the leader, the country and the revolution as they grew up under the care of the President.

Noting that the world peace-loving progressive people including the Chinese people positively supported and encouraged the army and people of the DPRK in their fight for justice during the war, the reporter said that the Korean people always remember this.

The reporter noted: The President led the grimmest and most arduous Fatherland Liberation War to a shining victory with his ever-victorious military and political leadership. The undying feats performed by the President in the war served as a banner inspiring the army and people of the DPRK to win victory after victory in the confrontation with the U.S. generation after generation and noble revolutionary assets. The undying feats and tradition he performed in the war have been firmly carried forward and glorified under the outstanding Songun revolutionary leadership of Kim Jong Il.

More than half a century has passed since the ceasefire of the war but durable peace has not yet settled in this land but stand-off with imperialism is going on.

A touch-and-go situation is now prevailing on the Korean Peninsula due to the reckless "sanctions" and military provocations of the U.S., the south Korean bellicose forces and the Japanese reactionaries against the DPRK.

We will mercilessly and resolutely counter the enemy's "sanctions" with retaliation, its "all-out war" with all-out war. We will deal unimaginably deadly blows at the U.S. imperialists and the south Korean puppets if they ignite a war, obsessed with a foolish ambition, and achieve the historic cause of national reunification, the cherished desire of the nation, without fail.
