New Artificial Crystalline Lens Developed
Pyongyang, July 23 (KCNA) -- A new kind of artificial crystalline lens has of late been developed in the DPRK to enjoy a good popularity.

It, called "artificial ductile acryl crystalline lens", is an up-to-date medical material for the treatment of cataract.

It has already been applied to patients suffering from cataract by the ophthalmic special hospital under the Korea General Red-Cross Hospital with the result that many patients recovered their sight.

The newly developed crystalline lens is cheap in production cost and high in quality as compared to those in other countries. It helps make the incision part smaller by far, thus remarkably shortening the recovering days.

It causes no aftereffect such as astigmatism.

Ophthalmic doctors say that the development of the crystalline lens is an innovative achievement in ophthalmic field of the country.
