Man-made Lake Yonphung
Pyongyang, July 22 (KCNA) -- Lake Yonphung is one of typical man-made lakes in Korea.

The lake is irrigating a large acreage of croplands in the areas of Anju, Mundok, Sukchon and Phyongwon of South Phyongan Province.

The lake, completed in Juche 45 (1956), has the River Taedong and atmospheric precipitation as its main source.

It teems with various kinds of freshwater fishes including carp and goldfish.

A children's camp, rest home and sanatoria are situated on the picturesque lakefront.

The lake is associated with the glorious revolutionary activities of President Kim Il Sung and General Secretary Kim Jong Il who visited it on several occasions including May 1956 and June 1964.

The President named it Lake Yonphung.

There stands the Monument to the History of the Phyongnam Irrigation on the shore of the lake to convey long the immortal feats of the President.
