Kim Jong Suk Saved Child at Risk of Her Life
Pyongyang, July 22 (KCNA) -- One day in mid-October of Juche 23 (1934), Kim Jong Suk, anti-Japanese heroine, was harvesting crops together with people of a village.

Enemy soldiers surprised the village, sending people rushing for cover.

Then a woman burst into tears, saying that she had run only with a sorghum-sheaf on her head, leaving her five-year-old child sleeping at the edge of the field. She was going to turn back.

But Kim Jong Suk made no scruple of hurrying to the field the enemy soldiers were approaching.

There were only the rattles of shots and she was not seen.

After a long while, people caught a glimpse of her running with the child on her back in the opposite woods.

After a while, the shot ceased and a pillar of flames shot up on the field.

Villagers, with bated breath, quartered calling her name.

Wet with sweat, she returned, making a way through the thick woods with the child on her back.

All the people, to say nothing of the woman who took her child saved in the jaws of death, were deeply moved by the self-sacrificing spirit of Kim Jong Suk.
