Press Trade Union Calls General Strike in S. Korea
Pyongyang, July 22 (KCNA) -- The south Korean Press Trade Union went on a general strike on July 21 in protest against the Lee Myung Bak group of traitors' scheme to railroad the evil bill on media.

Involved in the general strike were trade unions of MBC, SBS and other broadcasting services and broadcasting services and newspapers in some regions.

Earlier on July 20, the Press Trade Union called a press conference outside the "Grand National Party" building to declare the general strike.

The organization charged that Lee Myung Bak and the ruling party are working hard to blindfold and deafen the people by putting the media under their control, not content with pursuing the policy only for the privileged circle.

The "bill on media" the GNP is seeking to railroad is an unpopular as it is intended to build up public opinion favorable exclusively for the regime and capital by allowing the big businesses and the specific conservative newspapers to have the right to manage broadcasting services, it pointed out.

It stressed that the general strike is a fight to get the evil bill on media, cooked up by the GNP, totally repealed.

If the "government" and the ruling party finally railroad the said bill in disregard of the population's will, they will face a stern punishment by the people, the organization warned.
