New Map of Main Flyways of Migratory Birds Staying in Korea Made
Pyongyang, July 11 (KCNA) -- Scientists of the Zoology Research Institute of the State Academy of Sciences has recently produced a new map of main flyways of migratory birds staying in Korea.

Communicable diseases by animal pathogen are steadily expanding over the world and especially migratory birds moving from region to region and from country to country are a major carrier of epidemic pathogen.

Korea is on main route of migratory birds moving between East Asia and Oceania.

They have traveled all parts of the country including Rason, Wonsan, Thongchon and other areas on the east coast and basins of Amnok, Chongchon, Taedong and Rimjin rivers and other areas on the west coast to make the map of flyways reflecting in detail the staying period, place, species and numbers of migratory birds.

The new map, which enables the readers easily to see the flyways of migrants staying in Korea such as wild geese, swans and snipes, will be helpful to preventing epidemic diseases by animal pathogen and taking scientific prophylactic measures.
