Kim Hyong Jik, Trailblazer of Untrodden Path of History
Pyongyang, July 10 (KCNA) -- Today the Korean people are observing the 115th birth anniversary of Kim Hyong Jik, an indomitable revolutionary fighter, who devoted his all to the sacred cause for the independence of Korea.

Having keenly experienced the dark realities of the country and the miserable lot of the fellow countrymen under the jackboots of the Japanese imperialists, he put forth the great idea of Jiwon (Aim High) in his early years with an indomitable will to achieve the national independence without fail.

The idea was an outstanding one which lighted a correct target and the way of struggle for accomplishing the independence of the country and the liberation of the nation with the efforts of the Korean people and a thoroughgoing revolutionary one reflecting the will to make the proletarian revolution and build a new society of the people.

He, taking Jiwon as his life-long motto, consistently applied it to the whole course of his revolutionary activities.

Having displayed his organizational ability as a prominent leader of the students' movement already in the days of attending Sungsil Middle School, he vigorously waged activities for enlightening the popular masses and rallying comrades and formed the Korean National Association in March of Juche 6 (1917).

Meanwhile, he, basing himself on the deep-going analysis of the situation at home and abroad and the lessons of the March First Popular Uprising, proved the historical necessity for the proletarian revolution and put forth the policy of shifting the anti-Japanese national liberation movement from a nationalist one to a proletarian one at the Kuandian Meeting in August of 1919.

He went deep into the people without hesitation with the noble idea of Jiwon though he could not move well owing to the aftermath of cruel torture and frostbite.

He established schools and evening schools everywhere he went under difficult conditions of an underground struggle and exerted his heart and soul to implant the spirit of national independence and anti-Japanese patriotic idea in the minds of young people.

In particular he brought up the members of the Mangyongdae family to be ardent patriots, great revolutionaries who devoted themselves to the struggle for the country and people.

Indeed, the undying feats performed by Kim Hyong Jik paving the untrodden path of history for the country and people are shining still century after century.
