Nelia Sancho, executive chairwoman of the Philippines-DPRK Friendship Society, and Norma G. Binas, vice-president of the Philippines Solidarity Committee for Peace and Reunification in the Korean Peninsula, were elected co-chairpersons of the preparatory committee at the ceremony.

The preparatory committee decided to hold colorful political and cultural events such as seminar, photo exhibition and film show in the period until 2012.

An appeal to the friendship and solidarity organizations with the Korean people in different countries of the world was adopted there.

It said that national and regional preparatory committees are now being inaugurated in different parts of the world including Asia, Europe and Americas to conduct brisk activities to laud the immortal exploits performed by Kim Il Sung, the great leader of the Korean people, till 2012.

It called for vigorously conducting an international campaign for inaugurating the preparatory committees commemorating the centenary of birth of the President to significantly commemorate the centenary of his birth worldwide and for forming regional preparatory committees within this year and an international preparatory committee next year with a view to putting their activities on an organized and dynamic basis.

It underscored the need for the national, regional and international preparatory committees to introduce the life and exploits of the President through colorful political and cultural activities including meetings, film shows, book and photo exhibitions and lectures and pay highest tribute to the President so that the history of the President might be given eternal continuity.

It appealed to the organizations and figures of different countries of the world to make a tangible contribution to erecting the statues of the three commanders of Mt. Paektu and dispatch their delegations to their unveiling ceremonies and an "international joint meeting to commemorate the one hundredth year of Kim Il Sung's Korea" to be held in 2012 to further deepen the bonds with the Korean people.
