Japan's Moves to Escalate Confrontation with DPRK Slammed
Pyongyang, July 7 (KCNA) -- The new "guidelines for defense plan" to be worked out by Japan late in 2009 is a very dangerous military document which should not be overlooked in terms of its contents, character and design, observes Rodong Sinmun Tuesday in a signed commentary.

It goes on:

In the new "guidelines" the Japanese reactionaries underscored the "need" to facilitate the establishment of the missile defense system under the absurd pretext of "threats" from the DPRK and China. This reveals Japan's intention to accelerate its conversion into a military power and bolster up its capability for preemptive strike.

The call made by them for "coping with the "threat" from the DPRK in the said guidelines betrays their inveterate wild ambition to invade Korea and discloses their criminal scenario to realize it in the 21st century come what may.

The Japanese militarist forces seek to start their operation for conquering Asia by staging a comeback to Korea just as they did in the past.

This is clearly evidenced by their design to allow the exercise of "the right to collective self-defense" in the above-said guidelines.

To this end Japan seeks to round off the framework of a "bill on special inspection of cargo" of the DPRK-flagged ships and formally adopt it as a "law" at a Diet session in the near future. This cannot be interpreted otherwise than a very grave development. This, at the same time, amounts to a politically motivated provocation to the DPRK perpetrated on the strength of law and the height of the hostile policy toward it.

The whirlwind of confrontation with the DPRK kicked up by the Japanese reactionaries is intended to push the DPPK-Japan hostile relations to an extreme phase and render the situation on the Korean Peninsula tensest in a bid to secure a pretext for staging a comeback to Korea.

The DPRK never tolerates any infringement upon its sovereignty and interests.

Japan would be well advised to immediately halt its reckless ruckus, deeply aware that the anti-DPRK confrontational racket is as foolish an act as inviting self-destruction, urges the commentary.
