Battle of Jiansanfeng
Pyongyang, June 30 (KCNA) -- More than seventy years have passed since the battle of Jiansanfeng in which the Korean People's Revolutionary Army (KPRA) shattered to the smithereens the myth of the Japanese imperialist aggressor army, which boasted of being "invincible imperial army" during the anti-Japanese armed struggle.

President Kim Il Sung guided the work with organizations of the Association for the Restoration of the Fatherland and people in an area near Pochonbo that the guerrilla army stormed in June Juche 26 (1937). Then he received reports that a large number of the Japanese imperialist aggressor troops were rushing to the area by scores of trucks.

He ordered to prepare for a battle immediately.

Firmly determined to fight a frontal battle against the large force of the enemy with a large unit of the KPRA, the President told commanding officers prior to the battle that they should not be dragged into the enemy's tactics of regular army but apply the guerrilla tactics initiatively.

After grasping the topographical conditions in detail to annihilate the enemy, he decided Jiansanfeng as the battle-site and worked out the battle plan with commanding officers and discussed with composure the direction of work and duty of the revolutionary organizations with political underground activists.

When the battle of Jiansanfeng started, he ordered to drive the enemy soldiers into ravine and to wipe out them.

Thanks to the flexible tactics of the President, the enemy which loudly talked about annihilating the revolutionary army sustained an ignominious defeat, leaving a colossal toll at the day-long battle.

There were so many casualties that heads were cut off from the dead bodies, packed in sacks and wooden boxes and carried on carts to the place where lorries were waiting.

The battle produced the famous anecdote on "pumpkin head".

The historic battle of Jiansanfeng was concluded with the miserable defeat of the enemy by the smart military stratagem of the President.
