Movement for Issuing Declarations on Situation Mounts in S. Korea
Pyongyang, June 30 (KCNA) -- The movement for issuing declarations on the situation denouncing the Lee Myung Bak regime of traitors is gaining in scope and strength in south Korea.

More than 4,420 unionists under the Federation of Trade Unions for Democracy issued a declaration on the situation on June 26 calling for stopping the moves to adopt "Lee Myung Bak evil laws".

The declaration said that what Lee has done while in office is not something to recover economy but to fatten the rich who account for just one percent of the population.

It urged the authorities to immediately repeal the unpopular part-time policy of forcing workers to roam about streets and stop suppressing civic organizations under the pretext of security.

It demanded the guarantee of the freedom of speech and assembly, a halt to the moves to adopt "Lee Myung Bak evil laws", the withdrawal of the policy of confrontation with the DPRK and the like.

1,037 stage players including drama producers, actors and actresses and play writers also issued a declaration on the situation that day condemning the Lee regime for enforcing an indiscriminate rule under the pretext of security and escalating the confrontation with the DPRK.

The declaration noted that men of literature and arts on this land would wage a vigorous struggle for the realization of democracy in solidarity with the people from all walks of life.

More than 300 professors affiliated to the Federation of University Professors Engaged in the Missionary Work issued a declaration on the situation at Yeongnam University on June 27.

The declaration called for terminating the history of contradiction and division without fail and not letting the tragedy of the June 25 war repeat itself.

The Lee "government" should solve the serious problem of unemployment, weather the worsening economic crisis and guarantee the freedom of religious activities, it urged.
