Korean Exhibition Opens in Peru
Pyongyang, June 30 (KCNA) -- A Korean book, photo and handicraft exhibition was opened in Peru on June 18 to commemorate the 15th anniversary of the demise of President Kim Il Sung, the 45th anniversary of General Secretary Kim Jong Il's start of work at the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea and the 9th anniversary of the publication of the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration.

On display at the exhibition hall were works of the peerlessly great men, photos showing their Songun revolutionary leadership feats, books and photos introducing Songun Korea and handicraft works associated with the Korean people's wisdom and talents.

Present at its opening ceremony were personages of the Revolutionary Socialist Party and the People's Front of Workers, Peasants and Students of Peru, San Marcos National University in Lima, the Peruvian-Korean Institute of Culture and Friendship, the Peruvian Committee for Supporting the Independent and Peaceful Reunification of Korea and the General Kim Jong Il Peruvian Amicable Institute and popular masses of Peru.

Present there on invitation were the ambassador and staff members of the DPRK embassy in Lima.

Federico Garcia, director of the Cultural Center of San Marcos National University in Lima, said at the opening ceremony that the progressive mankind has expressed admiration for the DPRK's satellite launch, well aware of the fact that this launch was for peaceful purposes, not for military aims.

He said that the Peruvian people will get, through the exhibits on display, deeper understanding of the stamina and creative ability of the Korean people with a history of the nation spanning 5 000 years.

The exhibition will last till July 18.
