Lee Myung Bak Group's Suppression of University Students Movement Protested
Pyongyang, June 28 (KCNA) -- Representatives of the General Student Council of Hongik University and the Fellow Students Association for Democracy and other organizations in south Korea held a press conference in Seoul on June 25 in protest against the Lee Myung Bak group of traitors' arrest of the former chairman of the Seoul District Federation of University Student Councils (Sochongryon) under the south Korean Federation of University Student Councils.

At the press conference speakers said that it was entirely unwarranted for the authorities to have made a search for him and illegally taken him away for the mere reason that he took part in the university student movement though he has led an ordinary social life after graduating from the university where he was active as chairman of Sochongryon and chairman of the General Student Council of Hongik University.

Referring to the fact that the authorities arrested him on charge of violation of the notorious "National Security Law" and the "Law on Assembly and Demonstration" and are conducting an investigation into him at an anti-communist room, they termed this reckless act a crackdown on youth and students and peaceable citizens desirous of social democracy.

They stressed that the tyrannical action taken by them was nothing but the last-ditch effort of the Lee Myung Bak "government" to tide over the worst ruling crisis as it was part of such suppression under the pretext of security as the crackdown targeted against the Solidarity for Implementing the South-North Joint Declaration and the South Headquarters of the Pan-national Alliance for Korea's Reunification.
