Kim Jong Il Enjoys Performance Given by Russian Dance Company
Pyongyang, June 24 (KCNA) -- General Secretary Kim Jong Il enjoyed a performance given by the Russian State Academic Igor Moiseyev Dance Company on a local performance tour.

He was greeted at the theatre by Director Elena Scherbakova who is heading the dance company.

She presented him with a gift prepared by the dance company.

He expressed thanks for this and had a warm conversation with the guest. He highly praised the artistes of the dance company for having conducted enthusiastic performing activities in Pyongyang and local areas during their visit to the DPRK.

When he appeared in the auditorium of the theatre, the whole audience enthusiastically welcomed him with loud applause.

Among the audience were Kim Ki Nam, secretary of the Central Committee of the WPK, Kang Sok Ju, first vice-minister of Foreign Affairs, Generals of the Korean People's Army Kim Won Hong and Hyon Chol Hae, officials in the fields of culture and arts and media, creators and artistes.

The artistes of the dance company who became familiar with the Korean people through a series of performance tours of the DPRK staged Russian dance "Summer," dances "Kalmyk Dance" and "Tatar Girl," "Yablochko" from the fleet dance suite, Korean folk dance "Trio Dance," dances "Bulgarian Dance" and " Dance of Mongolian Sculptures," Ukrainian dance "Snow Storm," "Argentinian Tango" from the one act ballet "Inn in the Evening" and other colorful numbers.

Through the performance the artistes truthfully represented the optimistic life, national emotion and peculiar customs of the people of Russia and nationalities of different countries with high artistry, clearly showcasing the stature of the dance company with a long history and tradition.

The performance was acclaimed by the audience as it impressively depicted the sentiments of peoples of different countries with peculiar rhythms and perfect ensemble.

Kim Jong Il congratulated the artistes on their successful performance and extended his greetings to them.
