DPRK Succeeds in Breeding Sturgeon
Pyongyang, June 23 (KCNA) -- The Sinchang Fish Farming Office of the DPRK is breeding in a big way rare sturgeon, which has been registered as protected animal in the world.

The office, which has established a full system of fish breeding processes, is cultivating in an advanced method a large number of sturgeon whose breeding is slow as its maturity period is eight to eleven years.

Last year the office collected large quantities of eggs, raised the survival rate and produced tens of thousands of fry by an artificial propagation method.

It has arranged most proper habitable conditions by the method of circulating filtration along with ensuring proper temperature of water strictly, thus hastening the growth of sturgeon.

Meanwhile, it has established the feed processing method with Korean-made additive and applied latest fish breeding technology to fish farming, with the result that it is bringing up sturgeon for fattening and egg-laying in a planned way.

Various breeds of sturgeon are living in fish-breeding ponds.

The sturgeon in the office will find its way to fish breeding farms throughout the country and seas before long.
