Present at the event were Sok Myong Son, chairman of the International United Confederation of Koreans, Jo Yun Hae, chairman of the Commonwealth of Independent States Regional Headquarters for Implementing the June 15 Joint Declaration, and other officials and Koreans in Uzbekistan.

The DPRK ambassador to Uzbekistan and staff members of the DPRK embassy were among those present on invitation.

The full texts of the June 15 North-South Joint Declaration and the October 4 declaration were read out and speeches were made at the event.

Referring to the great achievements made in the inter-Korean relations and the movement for the reunification of the country after the publication of the June 15 joint declaration, the speakers said this is the fruition of the outstanding leadership of Kim Jong Il.

Noting that the north-south relations made dynamic progress along the road of independent reunification under the banner of the historic June 15 joint declaration but are now facing a grave challenge of the anti-reunification forces, they branded the Lee Myung Bak group as a gang of traitors bringing only misery and tragedy to the nation and an obstacle in the way of improving the inter-Korean relations and achieving reunification.

All Koreans who love the country and the nation should pool their will and efforts under the banner of "By our nation itself" no matter where they are and no matter what they do and turn out in the drive for the common prosperity and development of the nation, they stressed.
