Puppet Clique's Fascist Suppression of Patriotic Youth Denounced in S. Korea
Pyongyang, June 20 (KCNA) -- Representatives of youth and students organizations including the south Korean Federation of University Student Councils (Hanchongryon) and civic and public organizations called a joint press conference in Seoul on June 14 denouncing the puppet group for such fascist action as arresting Ri Hui Chol, chairman of the 8th-term Hanchongryon.

A press release read out at the press conference noted that Ri Hui Chol is a righteous patriotic young man who waged an indomitable struggle despite the ceaseless chase and watch by the security authorities.

Recalling that the security authorities have kept Ri Hui Chol on the want list for the last 10 years for the mere reason that he is chairman of Hanchongryon and called for democratization of society and finally threw him behind bars, the release said that the security authorities' human rights abuse is touching off the people's resentment.

The ever more intensified suppression of people by the security authorities and their acts of arresting protesters and putting them under custody everyday are the products of the moves stepped up by the Lee Myung Bak regime to strengthen the dictatorship aimed at stamping out democracy, the press release pointed out, and continued:

The recent campaign of suppression is nothing but a despicable move of the authorities to hold in check the struggle of the youth and students to realize the democratization of society and put an end to their dictatorial policy.

It demanded the Lee Myung Bak regime stop at once the moves to stamp out democracy and immediately release the detained patriotic young man.
