Great Paekryong Cavern, Natural Monument
Pyongyang, June 15 (KCNA) -- There is the Great Paekryong Cavern in Kujang County, North Phyongan Province of Korea.

The natural cavern is marvelous and beautiful for its natural formative beauties of myriads which consist of different sizes and shapes of stalactites, stalagmites, stone flowers, waterfalls, ponds, rocks, stones and others formed through the dissolution and corrosion of the limestone layer by rainwater and underground water for a long time.

The Great Paekryong Cavern has the main cavern and various side ones including Miro and Sanhae caverns.

In the main cavern, there are a place called "Mammosudong" with a large stalagmite like a mammoth in the glacial period, a high waterfall, cold spring water and a broad and plane sand place called "Myongsasipri".

Besides, there are many scenic spots called "Phokphodong", "Phododong" and other names for the different shapes of stalactites and stalagmites.

The pond in Sanhae cavern is located on the highest place of the Great Paekryong Cavern, the water of which is always cold and clear.

The Great Paekryong Cavern, a natural monument, is significant in geological study.
