The statement referred to the fact that the inter-Korean relations are inching close to the phase of confrontation and war these days.

The peace and reunification of the Korean Peninsula should not be given up under any circumstances, it said, and went on;

The Lee Myung Bak "government" should neither misuse the inter-Korean relations for achieving its political purpose nor increase the pressure on the north in a bid to push the situation to the brink of a war.

The Lee's "government" would be well advised to regard dialogue with the north as a priority task and make efforts to improve the inter-Korean relations.
