Anniversary of June 10 Independence Movement Observed
Pyongyang, June 10 (KCNA) -- The army and people of the DPRK will surely force Japan, the sworn enemy of the Koreans, to pay for the past crimes it committed by imposing unspeakable misfortune and pain upon them, says Rodong Sinmun Wednesday in a signed article carried on the occasion of the 83rd anniversary of the June 10 independence movement against Japan.

It goes on:

Through the movement the Korean people fully demonstrated their indomitable will and patriotic stamina of the nation not to allow the Japanese imperialists' presence in Korea to go on but win back its sovereignty. They also laid bare the aggressive nature of the ferocious Japanese imperialists and the hypocrisy of their "cultural rule" and dealt a deadly blow at their colonial rule.

It cites facts to prove that the Japanese imperialists massively suppressed and killed Koreans by the cruelest and most savage methods in history during their 40-odd-year-long colonial rule over Korea.

Their massacre of Koreans was unpardonable crime under international law and it is, therefore, a legal and moral obligation and historical task of Japan to redeem its past crimes, it notes, and goes on:

The Japanese authorities are pursuing with blood-shot eyes the anachronistic hostile policy toward the DPRK, persistently ignoring and evading the responsibility for the crimes committed by the Japanese imperialists against the Korean people in the past.

Since the outset of this year, in particular, the Japanese reactionaries have gone into extremes in their anti-DPRK confrontation racket and their moves to stage a comeback to Korea and distort Japan's history.

The above-said reckless moves of Japan are only adding to the hideous crimes committed by the Japanese imperialists against the Korean people which are too many to be redeemed by them adequately.
