Movement of S. Korean University Professors Unabated
Pyongyang, June 7 (KCNA) -- Professors of south Korean universities unanimously launched a movement for issuing declarations on the situation in protest against the Lee Myung Bak group of traitors' unpopular and undemocratic rule.

This movement kicked off with the publication of the declaration on the situation by at least 120 professors of Seoul University on June 3 is now rapidly spreading to universities across south Korea.

Professors of Chungang University staged a protest against the Lee regime's unpopular rule on June 3 and those of Silla and Gyeongsang universities on June 4.

On June 5 those of universities in 17 areas of Taegu and North Kyongsang Province including Kyongbuk, Yeongnam, Kyeimyung and Daegu universities made public a declaration on the situation in the joint name of professors of universities in Taegu and North Kyongsang Pronvince desirous of democracy.

Recalling that millions of people have turned out in streets in protest against the Lee "government" as it is keen to maintain and boost its "power" through dictatorship and fascist suppression, the declaration said, holding that this is an inevitable result of Lee's dictatorial policy.

On the same day professors and lecturers of Chungbuk University and professors of Kyungnam University in a declaration on the situation demanded the guarantee of freedom of speech, assembly and conscience.

University professors in Pusan and Taejon and South Chungchong Province expressed their will to separately release declarations on the situation urging the Lee "government" to make apology for the failure of "its state administration" and guarantee freedom of assembly, demonstration and speech.

Professors of Sungkyunkwan and Dongguk universities and universities in South Jolla Province declared they would join in the above-said movement and those of Korea University, in particular, are staging a signature campaign after drafting the above-said declaration.

In another development, opposition parties, civic and social organizations, religionists, university students and people of other strata are extensively waging the similar movement.
