Removal of U.S.-South Korea "Annual Security Consultative Meeting" Demanded

Pyongyang, May 27 (KCNA) -- The U.S. imperialists and the south Korean puppets convened the 1st "defense ministerial-level talks" under the pretext of "security" on May 27, 1968, at which they discussed bolstering the U.S. imperialist aggression forces in south Korea and stepping up the military "aid" to south Korea and the "modernization" of the puppet armed forces.

In this regard, Rodong Sinmun today carries a signed commentary branding the move as a revelation of the bellicose design of the U.S. seeking to turn south Korea into its out-and-out military colony and ignite a war of aggression on the DPRK and the south Korean military fascist clique servile to it.

The U.S. and the south Korean puppets developed the "talks" into an "annual security consultative meeting" dealing with even the diplomatic affairs at the 4th round of the "talks" in July 1971, the commentary notes, and says:

The south Korea-U.S. "annual security consultative meeting", an outcome of the dangerous collusion of the warmongers at home and abroad seeking to stifle the DPRK militarily, is evidently a criminal aggression mechanism as it has served to intensify the U.S. military occupation and domination over south Korea, curb the Korean nation's struggle for peace of the Korean Peninsula and the independent and peaceful reunification of the country and steadily increase the inter-Korean confrontation and the danger of war.

The inter-Korean relations are being deteriorated and the danger of a nuclear war is getting more serious on the peninsula with each passing day due to the U.S. imperialists' persistent hostile policy towards the DPRK and the anti-DPRK war moves of the Lee Myung Bak group following it.

The history and reality clearly prove that it is impossible for the Korean nation to secure the enduring peace on the peninsula and evade the fate of suffering from the disaster of a nuclear war unless an end is put to the dangerous military cooperation system and war conspiracy between the U.S. and the south Korean puppet warmongers designed to realize their ambition for invasion of the DPRK.

The military nexus between the U.S. and the south Korean bellicose forces can never be allowed as it is swimming against the trend of the times towards the independent reunification, peace and prosperity.

The said "annual security consultative meeting" should be dissolved unconditionally as it serves to justify the U.S. imperialist aggression forces' presence in south Korea, deepen its military dependence on the U.S. and increase the danger of a war against the DPRK.
