End to Fascist Dictatorship Demanded in S. Korea
Pyongyang, May 23 (KCNA) -- The South Headquarters of the Pan-national Alliance for Korea's Reunification (Pomminryon) released a statement on May 18, the 29th anniversary of the Kwangju popular uprising.

Voices of surging anger shouted by the Kwangju citizens 29 years ago are still heard, the statement said, charging that the U.S. imperialists and the sycophants and traitors are intensifying their colonial subordination and exploitation and suppression while making a mockery of the history and the people.

In particular, Lee Myung Bak and the "Grand National Party" have totally denied the June 15 joint declaration, engaging themselves in the anti-DPRK confrontation moves, it pointed out, adding that they are nowadays kicking off a racket of wholesale crackdown on the South Headquarters of Pomminryon and other reunification movement organizations, crying out for "elimination of the leftist forces".

The statement expressed the will to put a period to the fascist dictatorship by inheriting the spirit of the Kwangju uprisers who rose in the death-defying resistance for independence, democracy and reunification and turning out in the struggle against Lee Myung Bak.

Lee Myung Bak turned to the wholesale suppression of all the organizations and personages working to adhere to and implement the June 15 joint declaration, but this will only precipitate his own self-destruction, the statement stressed.
