Withdrawal of U.S. Forces from S. Korea Urged
Pyongyang, May 23 (KCNA) -- The Switzerland-Korea Committee released a statement on May 18 on the occasion of the 29th anniversary of the Kwangju popular uprising in south Korea, in which it demanded that the U.S. imperialists, a wire-puller of the Kwangju massacre, go out of south Korea.

The statement recalled that 29 years ago the citizens of Kwangju turned out in the fierce popular resistance against the military fascist dictatorship and its wire-puller the U.S. imperialists, taking control over the area of the city.

The then military fascist clique, instigated by the U.S., mobilized heavily-armed "martial army" to brutally and bloodily quell the uprising, it charged.

Branding the Kwangju massacre as a crime against humanity, the statement stressed that the U.S. imperialists were the mastermind of the massacre.

The heroic uprising ended in failure but brought due fear to the fascist dictatorial mechanism and foreign forces, it said.

The statement said that the Lee Myung Bak conservative regime, too, would not put down the people's patriotic movement for national reunification and pullout of the U.S. forces from south Korea by any means of brutal violence and suppression.
