New Speed of Great Advance Created in DPRK
Pyongyang, May 22 (KCNA) -- An unfathomable mental power of all the people has erupted like an active volcano and new standards and records stirring the era are being created in an unbroken chain in all sectors of socialist construction on the crest of the surging tide of the 150-day campaign in the DPRK.

Having kindled the torch of a new revolutionary upsurge in Kangson, a historic land, on December 24 last year, General Secretary Kim Jong Il embarked on a tireless forced march at the beginning of the year, giving field guidance to many factories and enterprises which are of key importance in resolving the economic problems of the country.

The flame of innovation kindled by him in the course of the field guidance added wings to the Korean people's campaign for creating a new speed of advance.

The workers of the Chollima Steel Complex have been reporting high results in steel production from the first days of the 150-day campaign. They had hit the national economic quota for the first quarter of the year at 106 percent in the industrial output value and 103 percent in steel by waging an intensive increased production drive from early this year.

The coal industrial units across the country including the Tokchon, Tukjang and Kaechon area coal complexes created more than 500 preparatory cutting sites and secured millions of tons of reserve coal. On this basis, they lifted the coal output 17.8 percent in April above the same month last year.

The workers of the Pukchang Thermal Power Complex, an electric power giant, broke the peak record in the number of operating generators and hydro-power stations including the Thaechon, Hochongang, Kanggye Youth, Pujongang, Jangjingang and Sodusu Power Stations recorded unprecedented results in power production by pulling their full weight on the control of water and intake.

The workers of railway sectors such as the Pyongyang, Kaechon and Hamhung railway bureaus are engaged in an increased transport drive to carry freight in time to various realms of the national economy, having topped the April target.

Twenty-odd forestry and pit prop production stations under the Ministry of Forestry honored the yearly timber production quota far ahead of the set time by waging a fierce increased production drive at the timber felling sites from early this year.

Meanwhile, the builders engaged in the reconstruction of Mansudae Street taking on a peculiar style in the centre of Pyongyang are pushing ahead with the construction at the finishing stage, creating the "Pyongyang Speed" of the 21st century.
