S. Korean Authorities' Repressive Moves Censured Worldwide
Pyongyang, May 22 (KCNA) -- Peace-loving forces of the world are bitterly denouncing the south Korean puppet authorities' violent suppression of the South Headquarters of the Pan-national Alliance for Korea's Reunification (Pomminryon).

The secretary general of Global Network, an international peace movement organization, on May 15 handed to the south Korean puppet consulate in New York, the United States, an international solidarity statement jointly signed by 741 peace-loving organizations and personages of 17 countries including India, Germany and New Zealand.

Referring to the fact that the headquarters has legitimately struggled for the peace and reunification of the nation so far, the statement expressed support with its efforts.

We cannot repress our indignation at the arrest and detention of pro-reunification activists on the charge of violation of the notorious "National Security Law," the statement said, urging the south Korean authorities to release all the arrested pro-reunification activists and make an open apology to them and their families and the whole Korean nation.

The secretary general also conveyed to the puppet consulate his own letter as well as the statement.

Charging that the south Korean authorities are turning to the repression of the people struggling for democratic rights, the letter declared that the organization would continue expanding its activity to build up public opinion for revealing the unjustness of suppression to the whole world.

The U.S. is working hard to sustain the division of the Korean Peninsula in a bid to justify its moves for aggravating the military tension in the Asia-Pacific region, the letter added.

It is deplorable to see the south Korean authorities getting involved in such dangerous U.S. strategy, it said.

Meanwhile, the International Action Centre, the Europe for Peace, the World March for Peace and Nonviolence and the American Legion for Peace extended encouragement and solidarity to the south Korean people in the struggle to protest against the crackdown on the headquarters.
