Lee Myung Bak Group's Repressive Actions Blasted in S. Korea
Pyongyang, May 10 (KCNA) -- Representatives of civic and public organizations in south Korea, including the Confederation of Trade Unions, the Citizens' Federation for Democratic Society and the Solidarity of Veterinaries for People's Health, held a meeting in Seoul on May 6 to denounce the Lee Myung Bak group of traitors for its evermore intensified crackdown upon the people.

At the meeting speakers noted that the demand of the people has not yet been met though one year passed since the candlelight actions staged across south Korea in protest against the American beef import.

They said it is unprecedented that the authorities blared that they would take a legal action against all of hundreds of people who were walked away after participating in the anti-"government" struggle waged on May Day and on the lapse of 100 days of the tragic death of evacuees in Ryongsan and one year of the candlelight actions.

The Lee "government's" fascist repression is retrogressing freedom and democracy, they deplored.

They demanded that the authorities punish all those involved in such suppression and set free the arrested citizens at once.

The "government" and the ruling party will face stronger resistance if they continue cracking down on the people, not drawing a lesson from the defeat they suffered at the "by-election of national assemblymen," they warned.

Then followed a press conference. In a press release those organizations stressed that they would vigorously stage the ceaseless candlelight action defying the deception and repression by the Lee Myung Bak "government" and thus bring about a new world where the people become its master.
