Speakers at the conference warned that no suppression on the part of the Lee group can destroy Pomminryon. The further the group intensifies the suppression, the closer the forces of the reunification movement will unite to turn out in the struggle for national reunification, they added.

A press release read out at the conference charged that the Lee "government's" crackdown upon the South Headquarters of Pomminryon was an anti-reunification action openly disclosing its intention to totally negate the south-north declarations and illegalize all the progressive reunification activities in a bid to bring the inter-Korean relations back to the era of the Cold War.

It was, at the same time, fascist tyrannical action to hold in check the just activities of the progressive camp against the moves to make a retrogressive revision of the "Lee Myung Bak evil laws", it said, adding:

Civic and public organizations will wage a vigorous struggle till the detained leading members of the South Headquarters of Pomminryon are released and join the people in their actions to have the NSL, the evil law of the times against democracy, human rights and reunification, repealed.

On the same day, the Kangwon Provincial Committee of the Democratic Labor Party, the Solidarity for Progress in Wonju and the Kangwon Provincial Federation of the Federation of Peasants Association separately issued statements condemning the puppet authorities for their fascist acts of searching the office rooms of organizations under the South Headquarters of Pomminryon and the organizations affiliated to it and houses of their leading members and a sweeping roundup.
