Pyongyang, May 8 (KCNA) -- A spokesman for the Central Committee of the Red Cross Society of the DPRK in a statement on Friday termed the recent "invitation and consolation of separated families" of the Lee Myung Bak group in the wake of the similar event last year a tricky farce prompted by its shameless and foolish intention to give impression that it is interested in the issue of "separated families", justify its moves for confrontation with fellow countrymen and flee from the responsibility for the bedeviled inter-Korean relations.
Those who barred the solution of the inter-Korean humanitarian issues and pushed the inter-Korean relations which were advancing toward reconciliation, unity and peace and reunification to confrontation and the brink of a war are talking about "pain of separated families" and "consolation". This is an unbearable mockery and insult to all the Koreans including the separated families and relatives in the north and the south who have suffered untold pain due to the division of the nation, the statement says, and goes on:
Due to the Lee group's moves for confrontation against the DPRK not only the north-south relations but the foundations of humanitarian cooperation have been completely destroyed, further beclouding the prospects.
The prevailing situation clearly proves that as long as the Lee group stays in power it would be impossible to expect the improved inter-Korean relations and Red Cross and humanitarian undertakings including reunion of separated families and relatives, adding to the misfortune and pain of fellow countrymen.
The Lee group should stop the foolish anti-DPRK smear campaign and confrontational moves, mindful that its afore-said vicious anti-DPRK racket would only precipitate its ignominious destruction.
