Devotedly Defending Leader Is Proud Tradition of Korean Revolution
Pyongyang, May 8 (KCNA) -- The Korean army and people, who have always emerged victorious in the chronicle of the revolution, have a glorious tradition of defending the leader with their own lives.

This is well shown by the slogans held aloft by them in each historical stage of the development of the revolution.

The anti-Japanese revolutionary fighters, the first generation of the Korean revolution, guided by the slogan "Let us defend the headquarters of the revolution with our very lives!", became a citadel and a shield in defending President Kim Il Sung in each battle with the Japanese imperialists armed to the teeth.

Carrying forward this tradition, the soldiers of the Korean People's Army dedicated their youth and lives without hesitation in the hard-fought Fatherland Liberation War, shouting the slogan "For the Party and the leader!"

In the crucial post-war period, when the enemies within and without became outspoken in their moves and renegades to the revolution challenged the Party and the revolution, the Korean working class supported the Party's idea and line of economic construction with high rates of increased production, displaying the revolutionary spirit of self-reliance, closely united around the President under the slogan "Let us defend with our very lives the Party Central Committee headed by Comrade Kim Il Sung!"

In the later period, they fought in the self-sacrificing spirit for the victorious advance of the Juche-oriented revolutionary cause, upholding the slogan "Let us fight devotedly for the great leader!"

The revolutionary spirit of devoted defense displayed by the forerunners is represented in the slogan "Let us defend with our very lives the leadership of revolution headed by the great Comrade Kim Jong Il!" in the Songun era to serve as the banner of life and struggle of the army and people.

The spirit of devotedly defending the leader steadily carried forward through decades and centuries invariably remains the life and soul and motto of the Korean army and people today.

The Korean army and people, holding aloft the banner of devotedly defending the leader, are keeping the death-defying resolution to mercilessly punish the enemies, if they invade an inch of the sky, the land and the sea of the DPRK.
